Electromobility and Supply Chain Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities

The development of alternative power trains such as electric and hybrid vehicles can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the transport sector and promote the goals of the Paris Agreement. There are already 5.6 million electric vehicles on the road globally, and this number only continues to grow. The global demand for batteries will grow exponentially in the coming years. In order to meet this demand, a secure and sustainable supply of raw materials must be ensured. This webinar will address which materials play a key role in battery production and how they can be sourced in a sustainable manner. Additionally, it will address which environmental and social standards across the entire supply chain are necessary to ensure the sustainable production of electric vehicles.

Speakers:

Ferdinand Geckeler and Claudia Becker, Purchasing and Supplier Network Sustainability, Innovation Management, Cooperations, BMW Group.

Friedel Hütz-Adams, Senior researcher specializing in social problems in the supply chain and sustainability in companies, Südwind Institute.
